Hello and welcome to the team!
Together Talks
Let us first say, THANK YOU.
By giving your time to volunteer for this fantastic service, YOU WILL make a huge difference to the lives of many people across the Bradford district.
Together Talks is a multi-agency initiative, hosted by The Bridge Project. The purpose of this district-wide telephone befriending service is to help alleviate the loneliness and isolation faced by many individuals within our communities. We are urgently seeking people just like you to join our team as volunteer Telephone Befrienders.
As a telephone befriender, you will:
- Provide companionship through regular conversation
- Reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
- Help make someone feel more connected to their community
- Make people's lives that little bit better
People helping people.
If you think this role is for you, please view the full Telephone Befriender role description and then apply via the online application form.
Once the application is complete, you will be contacted by a member of the Together Talks Support Team to arrange a brief telephone interview. This is an informal process to get to know you better, which will help us promote a mutually beneficial relationship by matching you with a compatible Befriendee. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have before you make that very important first call.
If successful, you will then be sent an e-mail with some very important links to your induction, training and resources. Here you will find short online training modules for safe working, policies, process documents, and the Telephone Befriender’s Handbook. These will guide you through an induction and prepare you for work as a Volunteer Telephone Befriender.
We ask you to complete this training because the safety and wellbeing of our Telephone Befrienders and Befriendees alike is at the heart of what we do. The service is supported by our friendly, dedicated and professional Together Talks Support Team, who are available every weekday to provide additional support and guidance.
We are confident that you will feel very satisfied following every call, seeing how simple acts of kindness can make such a big difference. If you make one person feel happier at home then, your own wellbeing will be hugely rewarded.
Should you wish to ask questions before you commit to making an application, please e-mail the Together Talks Support Team: befriending@thebridgeproject.org.uk or Tel: 01274 952200.
Should you submit an application and decide it is not a role for you, then please contact the Together Talks Support Team immediately on the above telephone number. We will then stop the progress of your application and remove all of your information from the database.
THANK YOU.
